Building a hot/cold aisle using Solarix rack components
With the growing number of racks and equipment in data centers, effective cooling has become a critical issue. Uncontrolled airflow is not only costly but also energy-inefficient.
In response to this challenge, data centers are turning to the innovative Hot and Cold Aisle (HCA) concept, which ensures precise airflow control, minimizing the mixing of hot and cold air.
A key element of TSU is the layout of racks and equipment in the data center, which enables optimized temperature control. One of the most effective approaches is to create a cold aisle, where racks are arranged to form a corridor for cold air to flow through. This cooling airflow is then directed directly to equipment such as servers, thereby minimizing overheating.
In contrast, the hot aisle is designed to create a space for drawing warm air out of the area between the racks. This warm air is then efficiently exhausted from the data center, where it is subsequently drawn in by the cooling system and recycled in a continuous cycle.
Implementing TSU requires precise structural modifications and optimization of the data center infrastructure. This may include installing sliding doors, enclosing the aisle between the racks, and adding partition walls to enable controlled cold airflow.
One of the advantages of this approach is improved energy efficiency in data centers. Thanks to the precise routing of cooling air, energy consumption can be reduced while providing the necessary cooling for equipment, resulting in significant cost savings.
The implementation of the hot and cold aisle concept represents not only a technological advancement but also an economic advantage for data center operators. This innovative approach to cooling is an essential step toward more sustainable and efficient operation of modern data centers in an era of constant digital development.
Components for the efficient construction of hot/cold aisles
Hot/cold aisle sliding doors
Manually operated glass sliding doors without a lock, opening across the full width of the aisle, complete with a roof panel and side panels. Designed for a 1200 mm wide cold aisle.
Scope of Delivery
Two sliding door panels, including the track and sliding unit and a self-closing mechanism.
With rails, guides, and self-closing mechanism; two or four side panels.
Side panels (depending on cabinet depth), cover plate for raised walkway roof or angle bracket for flat roof, fasteners.
Aisle roof, fasteners.
Material
Aluminum profiles, tempered glass, steel sheet with powder coating in RAL 7035 (light gray) or RAL 9005 (black).
Raised Roof Module
Roof module with an internal height of 150 mm, designed for a cold aisle width of 1200 mm. The upper transparent module is hinged. The modular design allows for easy expansion and installation of lighting.
Material
Transparent plastic (polycarbonate), sheet metal
Powder-coated steel sheet RAL 7035 (light gray) or RAL 9005 (black).

Partition for cabinets with a row of doors
A cabinet side panel designed for use as a partition between cabinets in a row. It features four screw holes for bracket connectors.
Material
Powder-coated steel sheet in RAL 7035 (light gray) or RAL 9005 (black).

Connection Kit for Joining Enclosures
Components for connecting LC-50 enclosure frames in series. One kit is designed to connect two enclosures.
Material
Alu zinc, galvanized steel sheet.

Cold Aisle Enclosure
This enclosure offers an alternative to sliding doors. Designed for a 1200 mm wide cold aisle.
Material
Powder-coated steel sheet in RAL 7035 (light gray) or RAL 9005 (black).
Sealing Cover for Floor-Standing Enclosures
This grid prevents cold air from the aisle from entering the space beneath the base unit.
Material
Powder-coated steel sheet in the following colors: RAL 7035 (light gray) or RAL 9005 (black), powder-coated steel sheet, plastic.
